Begin with the contents and the outer contact points

A corner is part of a chain. The shell radius affects the packing floor, the lining pattern, the zipper or frame path, the corner guard, the wheel housing and the way the case contacts a surface. Changing one curve can move several seams and attachment points.

Define the job before comparing shapes. A compact case for folded shirts may benefit from a broad flat floor. A checked case that uses corner guards and large spinner housings may need more outside clearance. A case with a frame closure has a different corner path from a soft case with a zipper tape. There is no useful "best" radius without the rest of the construction.

Put the outer shell, lining, trim and hardware into the same review. A smooth shell corner may look generous until the zipper curve, wheel housing or protective part takes its share of the space. Check the packing floor from above

The front and side views hide the corner space that a packer actually loses. Open the sample and photograph the cavity from above. Mark the usable rectangular area, the curved edge, the wheel housing, the handle channel and the zipper or frame line. Keep the view tied to the sample identity.

Use the intended contents to test the claim. Place a packing cube or folded garment into one corner, then add the second item that the collection expects to sit beside it. Watch for a corner gap that cannot be used, a garment that bends around a housing, or a divider that pulls tight before the case is full. A large empty cavity can make the case look spacious while the corners quietly reduce the practical area.

Check the lid after packing. The lid radius may appear to match the base, but its lining, pocket or compression panel can occupy a different path. Close the case slowly. Look for pressure at the corner, a zipper that climbs over a ridge, or a panel edge that catches on the curved seam.

Keep edge protection from becoming a packing problem

Protection at the corner has to fit the life of the case. A guard can cover a vulnerable edge, but its thickness, fastening method and transition to the shell still need review. If it projects into the cavity, the lining pattern may need a relief shape. If it sits beside a wheel housing, it can change the space available for a divider or packing cube.

Inspect the transition with a hand and with a piece of fabric. Run a finger along the inside corner and check for a hard step, exposed fastener or raised edge that could catch a lining. Then close the packed case and repeat the check. The goal is a corner that stays protected without creating an avoidable snag or dead pocket.

Do not turn the radius into a durability claim by itself. A rounded corner may change contact and appearance, but the final performance depends on material, forming, trim and the actual handling conditions. Ask for a separate test when the project needs evidence about impact or wear.

Write the radius into the sample handoff

A good handoff does not need a decorative 3D render. It needs the shell drawing or sample photos, the corner treatment, the wheel and trim positions, the interior floor view and the contents used for the check. If the corner changes, keep the old and new versions side by side so the packing effect is visible.
